Q: What shapes and styles are you predicting when it comes to skirts for the next S/S?
“Our WGSN TrendCurve+ predictive analytics tool tells us skirts have been on decline in the UK since 2019, but market signals suggest the category is beginning to stabilise as retailers mix into trending new styles. This also aligns with our catwalk analytics data, which calls out skirts as one of the largest growth categories of S/S 23.

Q: As we look to 2023, what are the key fashion trends you’re predicting in the kidswear market?
“We will see a shift in typical seasonal trends that lean more into subdued narratives as the cost-of-living crisis continues to influence designs. Collections where pieces can be worn for extended periods of time, such as the resort-ready shirt with more minimal graphics, the casual trouser with modular features and also the sleeveless dress that can be layered with long-sleeved tees into the cooler months will definitely win in this space.”

Q: With two-mile shoes rapidly gaining a big share of the footwear mix in past seasons, how can I evolve this trend for the post-pandemic world?
“In response to current global events, the home continues to be a hub for consumers and provides multiple opportunities to evolve two-mile footwear. Practical silhouettes that offer warmth or convey a sense of comfort remain key. Speak to flexible workleisure lifestyles and enhance the value of items with practical and modular features that adapt for indoor and outdoor use.”
