Inside Maison & Objet: emerging interior design trends for 2025
Maison & Objet, the leading interior design trade show, celebrated its 30th anniversary with more than 600 brands at Paris Nord Villepinte. The September edition theme, TERRA COSMOS, transported attendees to a realm of future-forward creativity and groundbreaking innovation, showcasing the interior design trends for 2025.
With a reported 25% of exhibiting brands new to the show, this edition saw a diverse range of emerging designers and businesses display their latest launches and innovations, mainly focused on S/S 25. Visitors travelled from all over the world, from Sweden to South Korea, the US and Brazil.
In this blog, we’re giving you an exclusive preview of three of the fourteen emerging design trends identified by our experts at this September’s edition of Maison & Objet.
Playful Cartoonification
Surreal narratives remain central from A/W 24/25 to S/S 25, exploring cartoon-inspired aesthetics. This means chunky profiles, thick contours, stylised designs and unapologetic use of colour, mixing cartoon brights with sweeter tints.
Designers at Maison & Objet featured Kidult narratives using key icons and padded forms, which connect to WGSN’s S/S 25’s Playful Cartoonification trend and bring humour to ordinary homewares.
Welcoming Forms
Plump designs and seemingly soft surfaces emerged this season, connecting to WGSN’s S/S 25’s Restorative Realms forecast theme.
Rounded forms appeared across products and stand designs, creating an inviting feel.
Restorative Bedroom
A key product opportunity for 2025 and beyond, WGSN trend Wellness Versus Care sees brands develop homecare items to ensure a healing home and restorative bedroom design.
At this edition of Maison & Objet, the focus on Restorative Realms expanded into bedroom design. Exhibitors prioritised sleep support essentials, furniture and accessories that create a cosy nook for rest.
