Starting February 7, all eyes will turn in the same direction to Fashion Week. Over the next four weeks, emerging brands and established maisons will present their A/W 25/26 collections. As the world’s leading authority in trend forecasting, WGSN already knows what to expect.

If 2024 started with the sensuous and opulent #MobWife aesthetic going viral, 2025 is swinging in the opposite direction. Following the Pre-Fall 25 presentations and driven by the underlying political and economic scenario, #DemureDressing will likely continue to be a key overarching direction, with an austere aesthetic driving the return of midiskirts and sharper silhouettes. Think A-line fits with subtly cinched waists and strong shoulders.

Sombre neutrals and #ShadowyDarks, including seasonal key colour Cherry Lacquer and WGSN's 2025 Colour of the Year, Future Dusk, will also be colouring the runways.

After years of strictly Minimalist collections, Quiet Luxury and overall pared-back looks, there’s an emerging push for the return of Creativity, seen in the S/S 25 collections, returning more maximalist, decorative designs on the agenda. Rather than a volume-driven trend, this will push against the austerity of designs for a more all-encompassing fashion as a form of escapism and resistance.
