Dive into metaverse cities from around the world
Dive into the global cities at the forefront of metaverse innovation, from physical spaces that harness NFTs to virtual platforms that provide alternatives to everyday environments.
The NFT ecosystem
The recent influx of NFT-based products and investments in the metaverse has allowed many global regions to explore the limits of Web3 technology, with these cities beginning to integrate their infrastructure in the digital space. APAC and NAM are leading the wave of early adopters, having invested the most resources for bringing the metaverse into the public eye.
London was behind Europe’s first metaverse-based ETF, and is investing in metaverse technologies as well as galleries including Quantus Gallery and The NFT Gallery for NFT enthusiasts. Be inspired by experimental retail strategies such as Selfridges’ collaboration with Paco Rabanne to offer digital fashion and NFTs.
The phygital experience
A city that looks to the future, Dubai is emerging as a Web3 powerhouse in EMEA. It is leading the way for digital integration, with over 1,000 companies experimenting with blockchain technologies to encourage a shift away from the country's reliance on oil.
As the hub of the US's cultural and financial districts, New York is in a great position to capitalise on the move to digital spaces. AR fashion platform ZERO10’s collaboration with Crosby Studios bridged the gap between physical and virtual retail, allowing visitors to try on digital-only pieces powered by AR technology. For NFT enthusiasts, Solana and Superplastic have built physical retail stores for cryptocurrencies and NFTs at Hudson Yards and Prince Street.
Hyperrealistic digital twins
Miami caters to NFT collectors and crypto investors with a more-is-more aesthetic. Look to Reflection Manor, a new construction with a digital twin in the Miami-inspired Alpha City, as well as a digital twin of City of Miami Gardens coming soon. Famous for its nightlife, the city is replacing bouncers with NFTs as the key to enter exclusive restaurants and clubs, and has welcomed its first-ever NFT DJ, 11Ape.
In APAC, Singapore is now home to a number of key players in the metaverse. Vizzio Technologies, whose patented tech creates hyperrealistic city digital twins, has an impressive list of government clients in Southeast Asia. The country’s largest bank, DBS Group, has purchased virtual land in The Sandbox to create DBS BetterWorld, an interactive experience to promote sustainable living.
Be inspired by these future-thinking cities alongside ones to watch, including Amsterdam, Barcelona and Sao Paulo, for ongoing metaverse innovations.
