Copenhagen Fashion Week

Known for its playful approach to styling and vibrant use of colour, Copenhagen offered a distinct sense of practicality seen in fresh, pared-back stories. Here, our Senior Editor of The Fashion Feed, Polly Walters calls out 5 not-to-miss trends from the Danish capital.

1. 90s

The 1990s continued to serve as an inspiration across CPHFW, with designers working the look into mini lengths, slinky knitted sets, slim trousers and barely-there sheers. Nodding to our Subversive Sexy story, keep the colour palette minimalist for ease of wear.

2. Western Practicality

A new trend on our radar, this theme nods to vintage Americana references while staying rooted in humble workwear staples. Brands lean into hardworking denim, functional layering and practical accessories in a heritage colour palette.

3. Pared Back Bohemia

This story evolves our Considered Craft theme of the last few seasons, exploring retro bohemian influences with a minimalist twist. Designers experimented with a cleaned-up colour palette, long-over-long layering and shearling finishes.

4. Modern Academia

As twee aesthetics pick up for the young women's market, a more contemporary approach was spotted in Copenhagen. Think Peter Pan collars, cable-knit sweaters, pinstripes and miniskirts with tights and an unsaturated palette. One to watch.

5. Supreme Comfort

Cosy enough for the sofa, but elevated enough to leave the house, our supreme comfort story continues for yet another season. For A/W 22/23 it's all about plush surfaces and cocooning shapes that offer warmth and protection.
